Yesterday HTC made the HTC One Max official, weirdly the device didn't come with the latest specs, it's just pretty much the screen and used the extra space to fit in a fingerprint scanner, HTC aims for the HTC One Max to compete against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3... But Personally I don't see it, In this post I've listed 6 reasons why the Galaxy Note 3 is still a better device.

1. IT'S BIG!

The HTC One Max comes with a 5.9 inch screen which is bigger than the one on the Galaxy Note 3 -5.7 inche- but HTC didn't implement what companies like LG did with the G2 for example, which is enlarging the screen but making the device bezel-less (the screen is almost 95% of the front panel), so keeping the dual speakers in the front and fitting hardware buttons makes the device a pretty massive phablet at at 164.5 x 82.5 x 10.29 mm and 217g, versus 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm and 168g for the Galaxy Note 3, Big is good, but I think there's a limit of some sort, Samsung could've easily made the Galaxy Mega a device with high specs but didn't and there's a reason for that.

2. Power

The HTC One Max comes with a Snapdragon 600 processor instead of the Snapdragon 600 processor found in the 4G version of the Note 3 and also 2 GB of RAM instead of 3 GB on the Galaxy Note 3, they pretty much kept the same insides of the original HTC One and made the screen bigger.

3. The Stylus

Part of the Note 3's charm is Samsung's stylus, the S-Pen; The HTC One Max doesn't have a dedicated pen but you can purchase a stylus that doesn't have any special features. The Note 3 is a literally a note-taking machine, it's designed for you to take advantage of the big screen and digitalize your note-taking habits seamlessly with a great user experience, The HTC One Max lacks all of that, It leans into making the device an entertainment hub for watching movies and playing games but there's an other category of devices for that called TABLETS.

4 . Software

Both the HTC One Max and the Note 3 come with Android 4.3 out of the box but the sense 5.5 HTC have included with the One Max sucks! Yes this is pretty much my personal preference that you might completely disagree with me about but I'm a life long fan of Samsung's TouchWiz and even with LG's new launcher which is incredibly similar to Samsung's TouchWiz

5. Materials

For some weird reason, HTC decided to drop the stainless steal frame from the original HTC One and go with a plasticy frame which makes the device feel cheep, If HTC is known for anything, it's quality and somehow their latest flagship device lacks that unlike the upgrade the Note 3 got, Yes it's still basically leather over plastic but it feels quite fancy.

6. Battery life

With a 5.9 inch screen and a power hungry processor, I expected HTC to go crazy fitting something like a 4000 mAh battery to the One Max but they went with a slightly bigger 3300 mAh battery which I found disappointing, also they've made it non-removable even though that the back can be opened to insert a SIM card and an SD card, so why not make it removable? I can only picture one of the exec's at HTC saying "Let's do something no one else did" and a removable back with a non-removable battery is the only thing he/she ( I'm not sexist ) could come up with.

Bottom line

The One Max might have a slightly better camera, a slightly larger screen and a slightly bigger battery, but It's not enough to match the Galaxy Note 3, Don't get me wrong, It's in my top 10 best Android devices but the Note 3 is the superior phablet here. Do you disagree with me? Make your case in the comments section below.

If HTC has its way, soon the term Megapixel will be deleted from our lexicon. Instead, “Ultrapixel” will become the new way to measure the capacity of smartphone cameras. Pocket-Lint has reported that HTC is to use this new camera technology, already in use by a host of manufacturers, in the upcoming M7. HTC will use three separate image sensors, that are take the images and stitch them together into one image.

If you find that you’re sick of the Apple iPhone and are interested in grabbing yourself an Android phone instead, HTC has the incentive to entice customers to come on over to the wild side. The manufacturer has presented a solid promotion where customers can trade in their iPhone (in fully functional and good condition, of course) and buy a One X instead, with a side of $99 urBeats headsets thrown in for free. Naturally customers may not expect to get top dollar for the iPhone compared to online listings like Craigslist or eBay, but you gotta admit— the idea of having the awesome One X with a sweet headset may be too good  of a deal to pass up.

We knew Samsung was going to go after Apple the first chance they got for the iPhone5. They said they would go after them for LTE just as soon as the device was announced. That is exactly what they are doing. Both Samsung and HTC are pulling the Ace out from their sleeves and going for the royal flush.

A new report suggests Apple may have a hard time invalidating HTC’s data transmission patents, potentially leading to an import ban on select iOS devices. The Taiwanese manufacturer recently accused Apple of infringing on two of its IPs related to wireless networking. Furthermore, the company reiterated that the patents in question “are critical” to the use of 4G LTE. HTC acquired the patents in April 2011 for $75 million from ADC Telecommunications Inc.

The android which has taken the smartphone market to its boom was not much like that in its past. This android OS in first Android phone was similar to Blackberry and its name was “Android Sooner” this was back in 2007

First Android Phone Home screen

This was a simple QWERTY phone with a small display the Android OS back in 2007 with very little features

Still at that it had a scrolling apps on home screen it had a good camera among the phones at that time.

But as soon the apple enter the smartphone market with its iPhone the whole scenario was changed., A very fast evolution in Android was noticed and then Google bought android and things changed android uplifted as a strong competitor in smart phone market.

The first android phone as compared to modern android looks more like a joke .

According to Rumor Mill HTC is working on 5 inch display smartphone. HTC plans to enter ‘phablet’ market with its rumored 5-inch display smartphone, featuring a resolution of 1794×1080 pixels. At 5 inches the ppi count would be around 410, somewhat lower than LG’s 5-inch full 1080p screen demoed a couple of months ago. HTC flagship handset is being prepared for a launch later this year, supposedly in September or October.

According to GLBenchmark score for an HTC device with a matching resolution, puts a Snapdragon S4 chipset with Adreno 320 GPU into play and also Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The new, 5-inch Full HD LCD panel appeared to be a step forward from the existing mobile display technology, based on AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) technology.

HTC needs to develop something powerful and powerful with new technology to make presence in the ‘phablet’ market. So guys what you need in this new device.

Yes ladies and Gentlemen I'm talking about the Samsung Galaxy S3 and The HTC One X

The wait is finally over. Samsung unveiled the awaited top end Android phone – a successor to the king of smartphones from last year, the Samsung galaxy S II. The new phone christened as Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with tons of new exciting features. So will this top notch product from the biggest smart phone maker in the market beat the other top end droids in the market, such as HTC One X? In today’s article, I am comparing the two highly specced rivals, the S3 and the One X.

Display & Size:

Dimension wise, the phones don’t have much difference. The S3 is thin like its predecessor, measuring 8.6 mm. Its footprint measures 136.6 * 70.6 mm. The One X on the other hand measures 134.4 mm lengthwise, 69.9 mm breadthwise and 8.9 mm in thickness. The S3 weighs around 133 g while the One X weighs about the same – 130 g. The Galaxy S3 has introduced a new level in the Super AMOLED display. It sports a 4.8 inch HD screen with a resolution of 1280 * 720 pixels. The stunning graphics, clear text and colorful images leaves us impressed. The One X too has a huge display of 4.7 inch: super IPS LCD 2 touchscreen of the same resolution as that of the S3’s screen. Both screens are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass technology.

Operating System:

Both phones have an Android platform. The version in both phones is the latest Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.0). The S3 is powered by a quad core Exynox chipset processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. The One X on the other hand is powered by a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset processor but with a higher clock speed of 1.5 Ghz.

Memory:

The S3 comes in 3 models based on internal capacity – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of storage space. The phone also accommodates 1 GB RAM. The One X on the other hand, has 32 GB internal space out of which 26 GB is user available and 1 GB RAM. The S3 has a micro SD slot that can house up to 64 GB. The One X on the other hand, does not possess a micro SD card slot. The S3 is definitely the winner in this aspect.

Camera:

The phones have 8 MP sensors in the rear with some amazing features such as zero shutter lag exposure, LED flash, auto focus, simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, etc. Video recording is done at a quality of 1080p and a frame rate of 30 fps. The video capturing feature in the One X has many other facilities such as stereo sound, video stabilization, etc. The S3 has a 1.9 MP shooter in the front and a 720p video too as its secondary camera. The secondary camera in the One X consists of a 1.3 MP camera and a 720p video.

Connectivity:

The phones have GSM and HSDPA bands for 2G and 3G connectivity. As for 4G network, the S3 has LTE (regional) facility. The phones have EDGE and GPRS features. Wireless network is enabled via Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ b/ g/ n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, etc. The phones can also function as Wi-Fi hotspots. An advanced and better version of Bluetooth, v4.0 is available in the phones. The phones also come with NFC chips.

Battery Life:

The S3 has a Li-Ion battery rated at 2100 mAh. The One X has a Li-Po battery rated at 1800 mAh.

Price:

The One X is available around $680. The S3’s price is expected to be around $700.

The most powerful phones on the market

The original HTC Evo 4G was notorious for its massive (at the time) 4.3-inch screen, which needed a kickstand for additional support. So it’s no surprise that the kickstand makes a return with the HTC Evo One 4G LTE on Sprint, which sports an even bigger 4.7-inch display. As for fitting in your pocket…

The HTC Evo was the fastest selling device when it was released, so the new model has a lot to live up to. Past Evo iterations brought 4G and 3D display capabilities to Sprint customers before other carriers. The HTC Evo One goes up for presale on May 7th at $199.

“It’s the premier Sprint franchise,” said CEO Dan Hesse. The Evo One’s screen has a 720p resolution and runs Android 4.0.3 and HTC’s Sense 4.0 interface. It sports a rear 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 lens, and a front-facing 1.3MP shooter. It comes equipped with Beats audio, which is becoming a powerful brand among gadget heads in its own right.

“It’s not just all about the specs,” said HTC president Jason MacKenzie. “It’s about the experience. We’re doubling down on design to make sure the phones feel great in customers hands.”

The phone will run on Sprint’s upcoming LTE 4G network, which is scheduled to launch in the middle of the year in six markets.

Jonah Becker, the lead designer from HTC, says the aluminum space frame is blasted, chemically etched, then machine beveled to reveal the natural color, which makes phone super light, solid, and futuristic. He talked about how the large screen evokes a plasma TV, which makes the Evo One better-suited to watching movies and TV shows than phones with smaller displays.

You can hold down the camera button on this puppy and take 4 shots per second for 90 seconds, then easily pick the best one and delete the rest. (Leave that SLR at home baller.) You can do video and photos simultaneously, just tap the shutter button while you’re shooting or playing back video and you get a still shot.

If you’re still making old-fashioned voice calls, this thing has “HD Voice”, which uses multiple microphones and special software to cut out background noise. Kiefer Sutherland did the demo and man he sounds good over all the restaurant chatter.
