Yesterday Apple introduced the latest version of their operating system iOS 7 and for those of you who are running the latest version of Android, a lot of them will look very familiar because they were part of Android first.

You know there is nothing I'd like to do more than trashing Apple, so here are some random thoughts I had about this year's WWDC... Enjoy!

Just days after the Samsung's UNPACKED event,  Apple released a webpage explaining why its flagship smartphone is better than the competition and I must say, it gave me a pretty good laugh! I'll explain,  Let's take this page a part!

Why iPhone? Because you're too stupid to get an Android phone!

#1 : Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S3 was arguably the biggest Android phone release to date, so it's hardly surprising that the inevitable S4 is leading the pack as one of the most anticipated phones of 2013. While details on the device remain strictly in rumor mill territory, the best guesses include a 5-inch 1080p HD display, a 13-megapixel camera, and integrated support for Visa wireless payments. But one thing we know for sure: we'll be getting all of the relevant details on March 14 at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall.

On Friday, Apple lost the title of the world’s most valuable publicly traded company to Exxon Mobil, after shedding 14.4 percent in share price – and over £50 billion in value – in just two days.

CEO Tim Cook shrugged off the news, and focused the attention of investors on the record results of the last quarter. “The only companies that report better quarters pump oil. I do not know about you all, but I do not want to work for those companies,” he told the audience at Apple’s Cupertino Campus.

Apple was supposed to have won big in the suit against Samsung in a massive series of claims of patent infringement. This was the apparent result of a jury verdict last August in which there were charges of attorney misconduct, juror misconduct and trial errors before the ink was dry on the decision.

2013 is going to be a catastrophic year for patents

Apple has acquired a reputation for being overly-aggressive in taking its competitors to court over patents (as demonstrated by this awesome video called “Apple Kills Star Trek”). In fact, it was just a few months ago that Apple took Samsung to court and won a whopping $1 billion dollars for supposed patent infringements.

Every year we think the evolution in smartphones must have finished. Every year we're wrong. Very wrong.

2012 saw quad-core processors become the norm among the high-end Android world, while Apple finally yielded in the screen size arms race by launching the taller, bigger iPhone 5.

Even Nokia broke a few boundaries with its high-spec imaging technology, sticking unbelievably powerful camera equipment in its latest phones, giving us access to mobile technology that even a couple of years ago would've seemed impossible.

So what can we expect to see in 2013? Will any maker be mad enough to launch a phone with an "octo-core" processor? Will Samsung expand the Galaxy Note's enormous screen by another inch or two, forcing trouser manufacturers the world over to expand pocket sizes accordingly?

Some things are guaranteed. There will be an iPhone update of some sort and Samsung will launch a few thousand differing Galaxy models, but what will be the big movers and publicity-grabbers of the 2013 smartphone scene?

The U.S. International Trade Commission has taken interest in a recent case between Apple and Samsung, and no, it’s not the billion-dollar ruling from this summer. The ITC wants to make sure that Apple did not infringe upon Samsung’s patents while making the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad.

After the recent ruling in Apple’s favor on that infamous patent case, Samsung asked the court to investigate whether jury foreman Velvin Hogan had concealed information about previous legal situations that would provide basis for an anti-Samsung bias.

It seems like Apple gets a new patent every few days... Just on Tuesday, it won patents for a 3D remote mechanism and for a technology that allows it to detect unauthorized use of your phone, according to Apple Insider.

The company said that it is likely to sue Apple over technologies used in the iPhone 5. In court filings, Samsung revealed that it will extend existing complaints and allegations of eight separate patent infringements to Apple's latest phone. The trial is not expected to start until March 2014.

In an article posted by the BBC, Samsung was quoted saying, "We have always preferred to compete in the marketplace with our innovative products, rather than in courtrooms. However, Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition. Under these circumstances, we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights."

There is also more news that Apple's iMessage violates up to six Google patents, which Google acquired via the purchase of Motorola. An investigation by the US International Trade Commission is currently underway.

Samsung is reportedly preparing more patent infringement claims against Apple.

Although we here at The Mythical Truth love to poke fun at Apple, this is actually kind of sad. In the past couple of days a massive number of websites and blogs reported about how bad the Maps app in iOS 6 was, and now BGR is pointing out that Apple is hiring people left and right to fix the Maps app. In the last ten days, Apple has listed 6 new positions for developers to help fix Maps in iOS 6. Apple also stated yesterday that “working hard to make the customer experience even better”. But here’s an idea, stop trying to sue every manufacturer out there and work on your crappy Maps app, right?

Maps in iOS 6: Apple's disaster

By: Unknown on: Sunday, September 23, 2012

Earlier this year, at WWDC, Apple revealed that it would say goodbye to Google Maps with iOS 6 and instead turn to its own proprietary mapping solution for mobile users. However, as people upgraded to iOS 6 this week, the buggy nature of Apple's own mapping application has come to light. So what now? Apple has said things will get better with time, but fresh rumors say Google may come to the rescue with its own app.

We knew Samsung was going to go after Apple the first chance they got for the iPhone5. They said they would go after them for LTE just as soon as the device was announced. That is exactly what they are doing. Both Samsung and HTC are pulling the Ace out from their sleeves and going for the royal flush.
