As you probably know, Google will host a press event in less than an hour in San Francisco, where the Mountain View-based company is expected to introduce Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the next-gen Nexus 7 tablet. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean launch event will be hosted by Sundar Pichai, head of Android and Chrome, but most important it will be streamed live on YouTube so all of you can watch it.
Even though both Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the new Nexus 7 were expected to see the light of day at Google I/O in May, the search engine giant chose to focus its annual developers conference on introducing improved versions of their services, with Google Group Play, new Google Plus layout and photo editing options, new Maps, a music streaming service, and many more.
Judging by the leaks that hit the web over the past couple of months, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will not be a major update for Google’s mobile operating system, as it focuses on bringing bug fixes, better battery stamina, a couple of new features and other improvements. The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is expected to come with a redesigned camera app with a new interface, Bluetooth Low Energy smartwatches and other devices, and Bluetooth audio streaming.
Like usual the Nexus devices will be the first to get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, with Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 among them.
The only Google device that will come pre-loaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be the highly anticipated new Nexus 7. The 7-inch tablet was the subject of internet gossip over the past weeks and we can say we know almost everything about it before the official announcement.
According to reports the new Nexus 7 will come with a revised design, while sporting two cameras, one mounted on the front panel, packing a 1.2 megapixel sensor, and one fitted on the back, boasting a 5 megapixel sensor. The unconfirmed specs of the new Nexus also include a 7-inch LED display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200, outmatching the one of the current generation (1,280 x 800 pixels).
The tablet will be powered by a Quacomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. 2 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal storage are also on the tablet’s technical specifications list, along with a 5,000 mAh battery.
It seems that the new Nexus 7 will have the same price point as its successor: $199 for the 16 GB model and $249 for the 32 GB model. It looks like the WiFi+Cellular Nexus 7 will debut synchronized with the WiFi-only variants, having a price of $349 with 32 GB of storage included.
